A minimal offline Bitcoin seed checksum tool — feedback welcome
| I put together this short Python program to replace the last word of a Bitcoin wallet’s BIP39 seed phrase with one that passes the checksum, while preserving the supplied entropy. The complete code is in the screenshot. It uses Python’s standard library, requires no extra packages, and is short enough to type manually on an offline computer. For anyone generating entropy with dice, coins or other physical methods, this handles the final checksum once you have your word numbers. I’d welcome a review of the code and any suggestions for keeping it simple to type and verify. [link] [comments] |
