BCH as electronic cash

Before I begin, I am a big fan of BCH and hold a decent amount. As I’m going through my portfolio, the two “cash” cryptocurrencies I have are XMR and BCH. Both for their own reasons, but I am wondering if BCH or any blockchain with a transparent ledger will ever serve as electronic cash. No one wants people to know how much is in their bank account, sending a tx with BCH will allow the recipient to know your balance. Thoughts?
