BIP-39 Passphrase Entropy & Hardware Wallet Passphrase Storage

With the ongoing Coldcard hacks, should a high entropy BIP-39 passphrase/"25th word" be the new standard - perhaps 8-12 words generated with dice via the EFF Diceware list? With 12.9 bits of entropy per word, a 10 word passphrase is 129 bits and effectively equal to a 12 word seed on top of your 24 word seed, right?

This seems like a straightforward way to mitigate the risk of a seed being unknowingly generated with very low entropy.

The largest downside I see is that entering this each time you use the wallet would be tedious. The risk of mistyping something is real, especially on devices with small screens and no keyboard. Ledger works around this by allowing you to store it under an alternate PIN code, but I think many other wallets do not have this feature.

Looking for thoughts and opinions on this given everything that's occurred over the past week.
