BTC Maxies are motivated by FEAR to keep blocks small
After listening to Kim Dotcom's censored Clubhouse chat with the BTC Maxies, I realized the Maxies are motivated by intense fear of "centralization" to keep blocks small. The host even says he "will die to keep Bitcoin decentralized". In the Maxi pathology, "decentralized" is a term that is loosely defined. Never mind the centralization of 65% BTC mining power being controlled by 6 people in China. And ignore the centralization of massive whales moving the BTC market price by 30% in a single day. The only centralization they fear is from "blocks getting too big so nobody can run a node".
As anyone knows who runs a node, it's really not difficult or expensive. This tells me that Maxies actually DON'T run their own nodes, they just panic about other people not being able to do it. The bandwidth, storage, and CPU requirements to run a node are still quite low, and the monthly cost is roughly the same as the cost one BTC transaction per month. And the cost to run a BCH node with 16MB larger blocks is nominally equal to that of running a BTC node with 1MB blocks. The high fees, full mempool, and horrible user experience on BTC are completely unnecessary.
Another key aspect of the Maxi pathology is their worries about the future - they obsess over the notion that "blocks will become too big". In doing so, they're completely ignoring the reams of scaling research that was done by Bitcoin Unlimited and BCH ABC teams to determine a safe upper bound for BCH blocks. (As a side note, the BSV team did YOLO their blocksize limit, and as a result broke their own network several times). Finally, Maxies are ignoring Moore's Law, new tech developments, decreasing hardware costs alongside increasing capacity, AND the tremendous scaling efforts of BCH and other development teams.
It's sad really.
TLDR; Maxies are brainwashed by fear propaganda
