Can anyone explain BCH to me?

I just got a tip from someone in BCH, I’m extremely thankful even though I don’t know why they sent me the tip. I’m new into all these cryptocurrency thing so I just opened a btc wallet and transferred the tip to my wallet. But where I live I can’t really buy anymore bch as it’s not accepting any payment rn. But the interface of the app looks really cute so I’d love to buy some, turned out looking at the graph is fun. But Idk much about it. I’d be extremely thankful if someone explains this to me.
