Challenge Accepted: How does this impact the BTC vs. BCH conversation?

I'd been thinking about leaving this sub and chatted about it in another post when u/Htfr suggested I try to post something interesting and spark conversation instead of just leaving. Challenge accepted.

One of the things I see over and over again here and in r/BCH is how BCH is fulfilling the initial intent of Bitcoin where BTC has resoundingly failed - being a new form of day to day currency. I read this article in another sub earlier and I wonder how it impacts that argument.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bitcoin-lightning-network-cryptocurrency-could-171219192.html#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&_tf=From%20%251%24s

Does the lightning network not allow Bitcoin to be used for day to day transactions without taking away from its now main(if unintended) purpose of being a store of value? How does BCH compare?

(And before it's said, yeah, I'm new to all this. I've been more focused on learning to trade than learning about the technology. But, I am learning.)

Edit: Well, I just did some more learning. I feel like deleting this post but might as well leave it up. LN is awful in its current state. That's one point for BCH in my limited tally.
