Dead Man's Switch for crypto seed phrases - auto-unlocks for family if you die

"What happens to my Bitcoin if I die?"

I built TimeSeal to solve this exact problem.

## The Problem

- Write down seed phrase → Family finds it → Stolen

- Don't write it down → You die → Lost forever

- Trust a lawyer → They have access → Risk

- Use a service → Company shuts down → Lost

## The Solution: Dead Man's Switch

**How it works:**

  1. Encrypt your seed phrase with AES-GCM-256

  2. Set pulse interval (e.g., 30 days)

  3. Share vault link with family (they can't open it yet)

  4. Keep private pulse link secret

  5. Click pulse link every 30 days to keep it locked

  6. If you die/disappear → Auto-unlocks for family

## Why It's Secure

**Split-key cryptography:**

- Key A stays with you (in URL hash)

- Key B locked on server until unlock time

- Both keys needed to decrypt

- Mathematically impossible to open early

**Zero-trust:**

- Server can't decrypt (doesn't have Key A)

- Family can't decrypt early (doesn't have Key B)

- No passwords, no accounts

- Open source (audit the code)

## Other Use Cases

- Multi-sig wallet recovery instructions

- Hardware wallet backup

- Exchange account credentials

- Cold storage location

- Inheritance instructions

## Technical Details

- AES-GCM-256 encryption

- Cloudflare edge computing

- Self-hostable (run your own)

- 100% open source
