Electron Cash CLI as payment gateway backend

I'm exploring options for accepting BCH payments on a website. One possibility I have come across is using the CLI interface to Electron Cash on the server to generate addresses and watch for incoming payments. This seems like it might be very convenient for smaller websites since they don't have to run a full node, but still get SPV validation from Electron Cash, which is a little more decentralised than trusting a third party to verify incoming payments. Basically, it would let you validate your own payments while requiring extremely little in the way of compute resources.

The CLI interface looks pretty clean to work with, but I haven't heard people discuss it much. Has anyone actually tried using Electron Cash CLI as a backend for a web app? Any issues or pitfalls to be aware of?
