everyone flexes bitcoin decentralization but ignores that half the routing network lives on amazon servers
pulled the asn data for reachable full nodes this morning. an absolutely terrifying percentage of the active routing topology is just hosted on aws hetzner and google cloud virtual machines. if three corporate tech ceos decided to coordinate a hosting ban the network peering would instantly fragment. running a node on a rented cloud server is not decentralization it is just outsourcing the network backbone to jeff bezos. if the hardware is not physically sitting in your house on a local isp you are an active vulnerability to the protocol
