finally moved my crypto off exchanges after putting it off for years, what made you guys actually do it?

kept saying "i'll do it eventually" forever, mostly just laziness and being scared i'd mess it up somehow. finally sat down and did it last month after reading one too many horror stories about exchanges getting hacked or freezing withdrawals. honestly wasn't even that hard once i actually did it. what made it click for everyone else, was it a specific scare, seeing it happen to someone you know, or just finally forcing yourself to do it one day
