16 years since the BTC pizza guy and I still can't bring myself to spend a single sat
Scrolling through X this morning and remembered it's Bitcoin Pizza Day. 16 years since Laszlo paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. At today's prices that's like… nah, not doing that math today.
Respect to the guy tho. Imagine being the first person to prove crypto could actually buy real stuff. Without him we'd all still be theorycrafting about whether anyone would ever accept BTC for anything. He took one for the team in the most expensive way possible lol.
The funny part is most of us are now the complete opposite. Sitting on our bags like dragons, refusing to let a single sat leave the wallet, terrified of becoming the next pizza story.
Genuine tip — don't sell your BTC, borrow against it. I just use a crypto card for daily stuff (Nexo card for me, the dual mode and cashback are nice but whatever works for you), pulls from a credit line and I pay it back whenever. Got a coffee this morning, didn't sell a single sat, and somehow STILL felt guilty. Pizza day brainrot is undefeated lol.
Cheers to Laszlo. Hope those pizzas were at least really, really good!
