If Bitcoin beats business profits, why invest in a small business at all?

A businessman once told me that if he’d just bought Bitcoin a couple of years ago instead of running his business, he would have made more money. If that’s true, what’s stopping people from skipping local investments altogether and just buying Bitcoin?
