Now is a good compromise between risk and performance

  • 5 or 10 years ago, the market cap of bitcoin was tiny with respect to that of gold, the potential gain of buying bitcoin was huge, but the risk of undergoing -85% or worse was also very real, making it hard to invest large amount of money into bitcoin, and even harder to hodl when it crashed
  • In the future, both market cap will be equivalent, and bitcoin will have become a very stable store of value, with no risk of large loss, but also no chance of big gains. Bitcoin will have become the good old family dad asset
  • Now is really the nice in-between. Market cap of bitcoin is ~10% that of gold, so not tiny but not equivalent either. Risks of undergoing -85% have become extremely low due to institutions buying, but potential futures gains remains high (but not huge). Today, is it not too hard to hodl, with potential futures gains still interesting

Does anyone else feel this way ?
