Promoting BTC locally
I’ve been toying with a business idea and wanted to get some community feedback before I push it further.
The premise is simple: I’d help local San Diego restaurants, bars, and small businesses start accepting Bitcoin. In return, I’d work with them to host special promotions like “Bitcoin Nights” (example: 10% off if you pay in BTC on a certain day).
For Bitcoiners, it creates a way to actually spend sats locally while supporting businesses that are forward-thinking.
For businesses, it’s a chance to stand out, attract new customers, and get some free marketing through the Bitcoin community. My questions to you all are:
If you hold Bitcoin, would you actually go out of your way to support a local bar/restaurant that accepts it?
Would a discount/promo day make you more likely to spend it?
Do you think there’s enough interest in San Diego to build a little network of Bitcoin-friendly spots? I’m planning to use feedback from posts like this to show local business owners whether there’s real demand.
Would love to hear your thoughts — both from people who hold Bitcoin and those who run local businesses.
