Let's assume the year is 2100. BCH is one of the most important currencies in the world. That would mean if BCH is PoW all the biggest countries would have to compete for computing power to protect the safety of BCH. If something is the core of the financial system you want to control it. If you control it you control everyone else. It would lead to a weird situation where X of energy is used for daily things and 10X is used to protect the network.
