today confirmed to me that all the crypto "influencers" etc only started investing at the peak last year

in no way shape or form is today the "worst thing that could ever happen to crypto."

The reality is, the vast, vast majority of people (you can search this up yourself) are on exchanges.

Not even 5 years ago one of the biggest names in crypto and an exchange that had politicians, musicians, celebrities, Super Bowl commercials, etc, went under... and not because of "unfortunate" reasons, but because of outright fraud.

Yet crypto lived on, and in fact, exchanges are still VERY popular.

Today's hack is unfortunate but the reality is, it was easily avoidable if you did a bit of research. Yes, not everyone is going to do that research, but those people should then just trade on an exchange or get a third party custodian to keep their crypto safe.
