VanityTXID-Plugin v1.0.0 for Electron Cash now available! (Windows only.)
Hi, here's a direct link to the plugin download on GitHub. EC just needs to install the file VanityTXID-Plugin.zip
https://github.com/TinosNitso/VanityTXID-Plugin
TBH I haven't yet tested it on any PC other than my own, in Win10, so I'm afraid it won't even work for others! Maybe there's a missing .dll?
With this plugin users can generate TXIDs starting with any hex pattern they want, using however many threads (CPU cores). Here's an example of a PoW NFT I minted in just under 30 seconds:
simpleledger.info/token/0000000f1393392b8de2cbf05e7a0ebc3d4630395e49a7c3f09174e46ce09da7
Lots of updates are needed: a readme, measuring hash rate (Mega(double)hash per second), Linux support, and also simpler things. Like there's an issue where I had to enter the password twice when combining both P2PKH & P2SH addresses (one password for the plugin, and again for EC). In the future I'll probably make versions for Electrum with BTC etc.
Users can add a message too, like "deadbeef", at the start of the sigscript. Deleting the default "deadbeef" etc reveals the placeholder text which explains what the textbox is for. There's an input for number of threads, which lets us test what the optimal amount is.
I previously posted a Python script to generate vanity TXIDs, but unfortunately Python multiprocessing wasn't possible without __name__='__main__' so I had to learn some C++, and I've only made a Windows version so far!
The plugin labels an address in the wallet with another address, starting with 'p', which has to then be imported to another (new) watching-only wallet. That 2nd wallet is used to construct the payment, then copy the hex back into the first wallet, and then click on Sign & Mine.
SLP edition of EC can be used to create the watching-only wallet. It can create and transfer any token. The plugin is only ever required to sign & mine the raw txn hex, back on the original wallet.
In the future I hope to make a simpler version which would work on Android smartphones. A simple version is more work because it has to manage the coins, instead of EC doing the management. I'd like to see how many zeros a smartphone can do in only a few seconds.
CTOR implies that the above PoW NFT appears just under the coinbase reward, here. I managed to get eight 0s once, here.
