When and how did you first hear about BTC?

Just curious when and how people here first learned about BTC and what made you finally buy it.

For me, it was around 2016. A coworker mentioned Bitcoin during a random conversation. I remember it was trading somewhere around $500 at the time. It was my first job, and I didn’t have much money, so I honestly didn’t think much of it.

I didn’t start buying until 2019 after watching the market crash and then begin recovering. I started accumulating around the $5k range and have been holding since then.

Over the years I’ve used a few different exchanges, including Coinbase, BitMEX, BYDFi, and Bybit, depending on what I was doing at the time, but the biggest lesson for me has been that holding has been much less stressful than trying to time every move.

Curious where everyone else’s journey started. What was the first thing that got you interested in Bitcoin?
